Design with an Impact

When one thinks of The Colbert Report, lately they think of "keeping fear alive." Months ago, however, Stephen Colbert interviewed a very interesting person. Emily Pilloton, from Project H Design (http://projecthdesign.org/projects.html), discussed innovation on a socially positive level.

The interview features some interesting and innovative products that can make an impact on many around the world. What's your favorite design?

wow! I can't believe I never thought about what it would be like to be as blind as I am without access to any kind of corrective lenses. Perhaps not the cutest, but I think those glasses could change the way a lot of people see the world...literally. heh.

I hope I live to see the day that our entire consumer culture shifts to one that embraces positive social impact and humanitarian designs. Right now we live in a world of over-consumption and materialism. I think products like the ones shown in the Colbert clip really have potential to inspire innovators. These inventions are relatively simple, just require some problem solving logic. It shows that finding solutions to widespread problems in the world may not be as complicated as we thought! All the more power to Emily Piloton!
